In April 2011, our then 11 year old daughter Megan Squire, was diagnosed with a Ewing's Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer, in her lower right leg. Sadly despite the best efforts of the staff at Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool she had to have her leg amputated above the knee in August that year.

She is now out of treatment and is doing well and was fitted with a prosthetic leg supplied by the NHS. While her leg was functional it was not giving her the type of mobility she had hoped for and as her ambition was to get back to doing all of the things she was doing before her diagnosis we thought we would try to help.

We set up Megz Legz to raise as much money as we could to buy Megan a state of the art prosthetic leg which we managed to achieve last year. However the leg is so advanced that it needs on-going maintenance and care so we are keeping the fund raising going to help cover these regular costs.

We try to do at least one funding raising event a year and for 2017 a couple of us have decided to do a coast to coast bike ride over 2 days in August.

We start off in Silloth Cumbria and cycle 60 miles a day over 2 days ending our ride in Tynemouth.If you would like to support us in achieving this goal all donations would be gratefully received.
