Story
In the summer of 2017, I will traveling to Uganda with Midsussex Scouts to undertake a community project, where we will be building kitchen facilities and a water bore hole for a local primary school. In order to raise the money I need I have been undergoing a lot of fundraising activities, including a challenge, where the contingent and I will be cycling and rowing from England to Uganda over a long weekend. That’s roughly 6,200 miles in total and 215 miles each.
For me, the most rewarding part of this project I think will be the knowledge that I have had an effect, however small, on the children that go to the school, and that I might have the opportunity to improve their day to day lives. Additionally, this is such a huge opportunity to do something which will be at the very least eye opening and at most completely life changing.
Whilst I am there, I will be helping to build kitchen facilities and a water bore hole to supply clean, fresh water. The current kitchen consists of a small work bench, a poorly built wooden shack and an open fire, yet it is still expect to cater for over 200 pupils’ each day – most of which will have this as their only meal of the day.
Please help me by donating to this page, no matter how small the donation, everything will be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
