My brother and I are raising money for our Uncle Max whose dream brewery business was destroyed in the recent New Zealand earthquake .

Max was born in Nottingham, UK and has enjoyed brewing his own beer since being inspired by his late dad Roy. Max and his wife KD moved to Kaikoura 12 years ago to pursue their dreams, building their own house on a small plot of land, where they keep cows, goats and chickens and grow their own vegetables. They launched the Kaikoura Brewing Company http://kaikourabrewingcompany.co.nz/ . The small business took a long time to build from scratch, with Max making a lot of the apparatus himself and over time he perfected his brewing skills and picked his best recipes, the IPA being a local favourite. He now not only sells his beer to local shops, business and at festivals, but also runs 'beer school' tasting sessions.

On the 14th of November a massive earthquake hit New Zealand and the small town of Kaikoura was the worst hit and has been completely shut off from the rest of the country. Thankfully Max and KD were both uninjured but their house, farm and brewery were badly damaged . They have had no power for more than a week so any beer that was not destroyed has spoiled.

Max and KD used all of their savings to start the business and any resources they now have will be used to fix their home and help them get back on their feet. Being so far away, we feel helpless that we can't just pop over and help them rebuild so we are doing what we can to raise money to support them and help them to rebuild the brewery which is Max's dream. The target is ambitious but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Max and KD always have an open house - they would love to welcome anyone who is able to visit to come and see how their money has helped and no doubt treat you to a glass of well-earned beer and homemade cake.
