    Story

I set up Military Museum Scotland from scratch with no external funding. It started of as in idea, to share a personal collection of Militaria as an education resource and a reminiscence project for military veterans but soon expanded into so much more. A group of my friends set up a charity in May 2016 to help raise the funds to set up Military Museum Scotland. From May to November 2016, we managed to scrape together £350. Not a great deal of money to start a museum with. We had the collection, but no where to display it. Due to a lot of hard work and dedication, we managed to lease a building, thanks to The Scottish War Blinded Charity. We got the keys on the 13th of January 2017, and less than 7 weeks, we created a fantastic Military Museum for Scotland to be proud of, we have supporters now from all over the world, from Australia, South Africa to the USA and Europe, the support has been fantastic. Military Museum Scotland was created in less than 7 weeks and opened its doors to the public on the 4th of March 2017. The main aims of the museum is Education, Supporting Veterans and preserving Scotlands Military heritage. We are now planning an outreach programme. I, gave up my job to concentrate on establishing Military Museum Scotland as a leading museum. It is so important that todays generations, learn about and remember the sacrifice made by their parents and grand parents throughout both world wars. What better way to do that than by visting the interactive Military Museum Scotland. Where visitors get a hands on educational experience. We have already had a school visit the museum and the feedback from both the staff and pupils was phenominal. We now need to make this project known throughout the country so that more schools can experience what we have. We need money now to help fund this and pay staff wages. At present, we rely on donations and the small entry fee to the museum. But thats not enough. We need your help, to move forward. Thanks.Ian Inglis
