Shropshire & Staffordshire Blood Bikes is a non-profit organisation offering emergency volunteer service providing urgent/emergency transportation of blood, breast milk & other medical supplies to NHS foundations in Shropshire & Staffordshire.

On the night of 12/09/2016 , while on a blood run, one of these dedicated volunteers Steve Clarke was involved in an accident involving a herd of cattle that were loose on the carriageway.

Steve was left with 3 fractured ribs, damaged ligament to his right shoulder and a punctured lung. Steve considers himself to be very lucky as his injuries could have been far worse and although still suffering with an extremely painful shoulder he has returned to active duties with SSBB , both riding for them and fundraising with his wife Mandy.

Unfortunately due to the nature of the other 'involved party'... ie Cows and the fact that regardless of numerous investigations the 'owner' of the cattle involved have not been found, it means that there is no one Steve can claim damages from and It's now being treated in the same way as an accident involving a wild animal.. ie Deer would've been.

I've not created this page to raise money for Steve's injuries as no amount of money can reverse the results of that night. However I would like to raise money to cover the costs of his protective motorcycle gear that was damaged as a result of the accident and/ or cut from him by the paramedics at the scene. I have no doubt that if it wasn't for this protective gear that Steve wore that evening, the outcome would have been very different. Steve continues to ride for SSBB and although I hope that such an incident never happens again... 'hope' won't keep him safe. Please can we help keep Steve safe by helping to cover the costs of his protective motorcycle gear costing more than £1000.
