I am urgently seeking funding for a colleague, mother and friend in Liberia, who is in desperate need of sufficient diagnosis and treatment for HIV and underlying illnesses in Ghana. In order to respect her wish due to the stigma attached to HIV in Liberia, I am keeping her identity confidential.

Liberia is one of the poorest countries in Africa, if not the world, and is still recovering from the long running civil war, and recently Ebola. Some of us in ERM have tried to seek appropriate care in Liberia to support her. There are no resources to properly diagnose the symptoms that are attacking her immune system and she is becoming gravely ill. With proper diagnosis she will have access to the right combination of medication giving her a 70% chance of survival. At the moment her chances are minimal. Her husband has been advised that she needs to access care in Ghana where the health system is much more advanced. Her husband and children (ages 4 and 12) are all free of HIV and it is possible that it was contracted when she was looking after HIV infected orphans.

I have been working with her for the past year, until she became sick, and she is a truly inspiring woman. She has dedicated herself to the NGO sector for many years now and has helped people all over Liberia.

She and her family would be beyond grateful if you could spare some funds to give something back to all the people that she has helped and for the work that she has done for ERM.
