    Story

Arc21 continues its plans to construct a monstrosity of a Waste Incinerator on the Boghill Road which will destroy, pollute and detrimentally impact on the community and environment of the Newtownabbey and North Belfast Area for the next 30 years and beyond.

Despite the Environment Minister's decision to reject the planning application for the Hightown Waste Incinerator, Arc21/ Becon continue to progress their plans to build the publically opposed, unneeded and unsustainable project.

NoArc21 representing all of the local community stood adamantly opposed to the proposals once again at the recent PAC appeal by raising all of the concerns such as visual, need, noise, odour, traffic, health and pollution impact.

NoArc21 have employed experts in the fields of visual impact to aid our fight. We need to pay outstanding monies. Donations to date have helped us but we have more to pay. We also require Legal Experts to be ready to push this to a Judicial Review

We appreciate that our financial aim is extremely high but this is what we know we need to raise to get the appropriate professional experts.

The Arc21/ Becon Incinerator will have a detrimental impact on a huge community across the Newtownabbey and North Belfast area so any donations large or small will help us.

NoArc21 are entirely made up of volunteers from the community and have fought an ongoing battle since the initial announcement of the Arc21/Becon incinerator project in March 2013. NoArc21 are prepared to fight and oppose Arc21/Becon plans until the plans are dead. NoArc21 have announced it is willing to take this to High Court if required. All funds will be carried over to help pay for legal support.

In our last round of funding we raised over £900 pound of our target through JustGiving. Thank you sincerely to all those who donated. Your money has gone to very worthwhile reports and documents that have been submitted to the PAC (Planning Appeals Commission) as part of the visual impact assessment. We hope this will be vital evidence to support our opposition to the monstrosity. We have some monies outstanding to pay for these experts and we also hope to gather momentum and monies in preparation to take our opposition to Judicial Review.
