    Story

“Right now more than ever, I am looking for food, but of course, not to eat. The food I am looking for, no one here actually thought to give us some. Maybe they forgot that with this food we will be able to face whatever tomorrow brings. The food I am talking about is the food of the mind.”
Quote from an OxSRC applicant, 21/12/2016

This message is not an isolated one. Violent conflicts and authoritarian regimes are forcing bright students from all corners of the world to abandon their studies and research. These people now find themselves unable to pursue their education, and with no hope of fulfilling their academic aspirations.

The Oxford Student Refugee Campaign was set up to help them. Right now, we have a chance to help as many as 32 asylum-seeking and refugee students, by allowing them to accept their place at Oxford. Many of these scholars were forced to abandon their families and home countries; others still live in the midst of conflict; some are already in the UK seeking refuge and a future. They cover a host of academic fields, and have proved to be of the highest academic caliber: despite tremendously harrowing and difficult situations, they all met the conditions required to attend the University of Oxford.

But though offer holders, they lack financial support to attend. As a small student-run and student-funded volunteer campaign, we cannot help all of these students alone.

And that is why we are now turning to you: we need your help to at least match the £ 50,000 we’ve already received, to give as many of these students as we can the opportunity to build a clear and better future for themselves. It has never been easier to demonstrate that you are willing to make and promote change.

You can do that right now: please donate and share this message widely.

    Thank you!
