    Story

HSCT is an established treatment for some blood cancers. In recent trials it has shown great promise as a treatment for MS, to the point some are calling it a cure.
You may have seen a recent documentary following a trial in the U.K. This trial had some amazing results, however it is still an experimental treatment in the uk and is not available on the NHS.
I was diagnosed with MS at 30, my life changed literally in the blink of an eye. The diagnosis meant I couldn't return to the job I'm trained for and I lost everything.
Over the last decade the disease has slowly eaten away at me and I'm now quite seriously limited in what I can do.
I'm lucky in that I've had it for 10 years and I'm still able to walk short distances with a cane. I take a disease modifying therapy but that can only slow the disease progression.
HSCT works by wiping out the immune system with aggressive chemotherapy and then resetting it using the patients own stem cells. This has had some truly astounding results around the world, from the UK to Russia, Canada and beyond.
Whilst I know that this treatment may not return my health completely, if it can halt the progression of the disease I can live with the way I am and still keep my dignity and a quality of life.
When I started this page I paid attention to the advice of just giving, to be ambitious but realistic. With that in mind I set my target at £5000. aHSCT comes at a cost of £40,000. That's an incredible amount of money to raise. If I can raise it it will change my life, it's certainly ambitious, whether it's realistic remains to be seen.
    Here's hoping

    Thank you

      Update from the Page owner

Thank you all. I'm genuinely blown away by the generosity of everyone who's helped me get this far. It'd take me all day to thank everyone individually, so to all who helped me get almost a quarter of the way to my target, from the bottom of my heart thank you. Fundraising will continue after Christmas and you can keep up with my progress through my Facebook fundraising page which is @pfgeorgehsct. Thanks again Paul x

All of the donors, good friend and strangers alike, thank you all very much. Can't believe I'm10% of the way there already and I haven't had to jump out of a plane or anything mental like that. Can't name you all individually but know that I appreciate everything, you're all diamonds.

Ok it's taken me a little while to get my head around the generosity of people since this page started. I honestly can't thank everyone enough. Coffee morning on Saturday....Boldon Colliery played a blinder. Raised £1900 in one day. Lauren, Kate, Pam, sue and everyone who was there, I'm truly grateful for everything, everyone who donated prizes, bought tickets and just made a success, thank you, from the bottom of my heart. Xx

Hi I'm Paul. I've had MS for 10 yrs now. I'm raising money to undergo stem cell therapy in the hope that I can at the least stop the disease progressing and hopefully regain some of the things it has taken from me. Any donation would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Paul
