Penarth Hockey Club has been offered a fantastic opportunity to represent Wales in June’s EuroHockey Challenge Cup competition, but the timing of the invitation means that it urgently needs to raise the funds to take up the place on offer.

Penarth is one of hockey’s modern successes, a club with a long history now on the road back to the highest echelons of the sport thanks to the commitment of a group of determined individuals. Hard work on and off the pitch over the past two seasons has resulted in back-to-back league titles and successive promotions for the 1st XI (as well as similar success at lower levels), and the invitation to compete in Europe represents the next step along the road to restoring former glories.

This is an opportunity that doesn't come along very often. It would be a notable first in the club’s history and, naturally, it would love to showcase the obvious talent of its players and coaches on the biggest stage yet offered.

As a result, Penarth Hockey Club is seeking support to help cover the cost of travel and four nights’ accommodation for an 18-man squad at June’s EuroHockey Challenge Cup in the Ukraine. The competition takes place between 1-5 June, so time is of the essence….

The club is already planning numerous activities to raise money for the cause, but needs an extra push towards achieving its target. This is an opportunity, not only to make it an event to remember for everyone involved with the club, but also to make history for both Penarth and Wales, so any support would be warmly welcomed...
