Story
In May last year we moved down to Blisland in North Cornwall.
Blisland is a small remote and beautiful unspoilt village with no public transport and many elderly villagers who depend on the Community Shop, Post Office and Café for every day essentials, groceries, collecting prescriptions and meeting up for a coffee. It is the focal point in the village.
Last year due to high levels of debt which had built up, the Community Shop was in danger of closure. A new Committee took over its management and since then it has undergone a change programme to increase footfall and sales and reduce costs. But to ensure the future of the shop it needs an injection of capital to pay off loans.
Peter has volunteered to cycle from Blisland to Porthmadog in North Wales with a target to raise £1,000. This will be used towards paying off loans, thereby reducing the level of debt and costs of funding loans.
This will be an epic journey, calling in at Community Village Shops en route and cycling through Snowdonia National Park, a distance of almost 400 miles. He will be completing the challenge starting on June 21st 2017.
Life without the Community shop, Post office and café, would become very difficult for many elderly folk and those without transport in the community.
Please support Peter in aid of this worthy cause.
