    Story

We are all ex-members of Reading University Boat Club who, in a moment of madness, and having not rowed for 40 years, have decided to compete in the Reading University Head of the River Race on March 4th 2017.Since our day the university has enjoyed considerable success and is now producing Olympic Quality Oarsmen who need the best possible equipment. They currently need a new pair, and the object of the exercise is to raise sponsorship to purchase this.

We did it! And despite being three times the age of most of the crews we did were not last.I think the look on our faces shows it was pretty hard work.A very big thank you to all that have donated to make this worthwhile. The Reading University crews excelled on the day and are clearly worthy of the effort to raise money for new equipment. Special thanks to Will Rand who trusted us with boat club equipment Janice Galvin for all her PR efforts, Simon Appelbee and Nigel Hopkins.Still time to donate if you are minded to!

26th February: Only one week to go, so this is the last training session. We rowed 3/4's of the 4.5k course and all lived to tell the tale! I think we are all looking forward to the race next week, if only to get our weekends back! Everyone has put in a heroic effort, and time to make good a rather rash promise; thank you to everyone who has supported us , we are now well on the way to our target if you add in the cheques, so please donate now, or we may have to do this again!
