    Story

On July 1st this year I am taking part in the Dragon Duathlon which is considered to be one of the toughest duel sport events in the UK at the moment. The event is basically a coast to coast cycle ride across Wales with a three peaks trail run challenge along the way (260km riding & 30km running). The ride starts from Swansea in the south and makes its way to Anglesey at the North and the runs go over Pen y fan, Cadir Idris and then the big one, Snowdon (after about 250km and hopefully no more than 18 hours).
Training has begun with a few problems already as I have had tendonitis in my foot but I will get to the end somehow!
I hope to complete in about 20 hours if all goes to plan, it will be a tough long day but also a great challenge which is why I thought it would be a great way to try and raise some funds for the 1st Micklefield scout group, which I am a leader at, so that we can hopefully take the kids on some kind of adventure of their own (what exactly depends on funds raised) . Scouting is a great way to develop children and give them self esteem whilst having fun and pushing the boundaries of what they are comfortable with.
I hope you agree with my thoughts and can spare a few pounds to put to this cause, thank you for looking, I will post a link to the live tracking page when I get the details.

More information about the event can be found at http://dragonduathlon.com/
    Thanks again
    Rik

Busy sorting my nutrition for next weekend, I think I have it covered! Hopefully by this time next week I'll be somewhere on Snowdon with the finish in site. I will post the link for tracking the event this week. I have done all the training I can now so just a gentle week with a few steady rides and runs to keep my legs ticking over and hopefully by next week I'll feel ready to rumble!

I am a keen cyclist and now a scout leader, I love the outdoors and all things adventure which is why I thought I'd would challenge myself whilst trying to raise funds for the young people in the village.
