Robbie Byrne is an integral part of Deptford life... He's had a downer of a year after tearing his Achilles' tendon and having to undergo surgery and physio. But now he's finally back on his feet and back on the prowl in Deptford's coffee mornings and knitting groups.

While Robbie was off his feet and a few of us were helping him out with errands, we realised that he has been living for some time with broken furniture, a broken bed and without a working fridge-freezer. While it isn't something that he has complained about, it makes us sad to realise that our friend isn't able to go home and rest comfortably after a day of keeping the locals entertained. The lack of a fridge-freezer made it difficult for us to keep him stocked up on nutritious food while he was recouperating and explains why it is he's always stuffing his face at cafe bianca or amber tree...

We've set this page so that Robbie's friends who wish to help us refurbish his gaff can donate as little (or as large) as they like... as I said previously, our aim is to raise £500 towards buying him a new bed/mattress, sofa,fridge-freezer and tv (so that he can recline and watch Foyles War clearly and in comfort).

So, please dig deep and give whatever you can spare and lets get Robbie some creature comforts!
