On 11 December 2016 our Son, Sebastian Eli Young, was born. We had been blessed with a beautiful baby boy! Unfortunately, a few hours after he was born, Sebastian was rushed to the Neonatal Ward at Pinderfields Hospital. His skin tone was greyish and he was struggling to breathe and, at first, the doctors were unsure of the cause of this but eventually they determined that he had sepsis with secondary PPHN. 


The following morning Sebastian was rushed to the Neonatal ICU at Leeds General Infirmary, where he was immediately treated for Sepsis and PPHN and where he stayed for 26 days before being transferred to Transitional care and eventually he was able to come home.

Sebastian was an extremely poorly boy and, little did we know, either of these illnesses could have killed him and once the sepsis and PPHN had been treated he was found to be having seizures. These seizures were caused due to his oxygen saturation levels dropping to a low of 27%, which caused oxygen starvation to his brain.

Throughout this torturous time we were extremely lucky that Sebastian received such amazing care, not only that but we as parents also received so much support.

The staff at LGI saved our boys life and words will never be able to express how grateful we truly are!
