    Story

We Sponsor 300 extremely poor children in Tharaka, Kenya and many of them live in remote areas, and it is difficult to reach the children, especially during the rainy seasons. The mud roads become treacherous and often impassible. A decent vehicle is urgently required to bring supplies, gather reports, and help these children. Our present vehicle is constantly needing repaired, and it's imperative that we purchase a new 4x4 to assist us in our work. Each child on our programme, receives annually - Medical insurance, School uniforms, and goats as well as other items from time to time; solar lamps, water tanks, mosquito nets and bedding. We have raised most of the money but need a further £2000 to achieve our target. We also run SONshine Farm in a remote area, providing food for the young and vulnerable. This farm helps to train the community in farming techniques. We would love to get some of the produce into local markets but again we require a decent vehicle.

Thank you for your suppot over the last 10 years. This is our present vehicle and its on its last leg. Just last month, when distributing the goats the the sponsored children, one of the young boys took a seizure, and Mugo had to transport the young fellow to hospital. Thankfully the car did not let us down, but the rains have arrived this month and it makes travelling so much more difficult.

I don't usually add my name to these kind of things but knowing only too well the trials and tribulations of traveling in this terrain I hope to encourage people to give generously. God bless

I have been volunteering with SCKP for 10 years, and have visited Tharaka regularly. It's been amazing to see, with a little outside help, how families can turn their lives around. We encourage them not to depend on our help but rather strive for self sufficiency.
