Being disabled is challenging enough but to live it in a country where there is little respect for human rights is a death sentence.
The circumstances of persons with disabilities in Africa, especially Ghana is horrifying. With no support from the government and sometimes their families, disabled people are reduced to begging in the streets to fend for themselves.
In the streets, It is needless to emphasise their vulnerability to the elements.
The sole aim of Special Needs gh. is to raise awareness to dispel the stigma surrounding disability and also to provide day centres where persons with disabilities can hang out and socialise, engage in therapeutic activities as well as have at least one decent meal a day.
