Since the bleak mid winter months of 2014 when our playground was condemned on safety grounds, our children have had extremely limited resources to entertain themselves with and enjoy at play times.

In the spring 2015, our school set in motion a proposal to completely renovate the playground area and create a safe, engaging and inspiring environment in which our children can thrive, be active and enjoy.

This motion has been a roller coaster journey, with many ups and downs in the process. We successfully obtained funding to build our new multi use games area from Sport England which has been a fantastic piece of equipment for our children to embrace. However, this area is only able to host one class at a time leaving 6 other classes (nearly 170 children) with limited activities to engage with during playtimes.

We have had further funding bids rejected and also seen budgets be cut which have halted our renovation project greatly. This prompted the members of our school council to launch our own fundraising project, The Famous 5 Challenge. This challenge is dual purpose - to raise greatly needed funds for the playground and also develop a love for reading through Enid Blyton's children's books. We are currently half way through the challenge and the children have raised a great amount through activities such as a all day Zumbathon, a book character hunt, cake & biscuit sales and school discos. All have been fantastically organised by the children which we are all.

But unfortunately this is not enough so Mr Lloyd has set himself the challenge of running the Manchester Marathon, 26.2 miles, on April 2nd 2017 in an attempt to boost funds for the children of our school and their playground project. He is currently pounding pavements before and after school. In upcoming weeks the children will also help Mr Lloyd by training with him.
