Every 20 minutes in the UK a child is taken into care, rightly or wrongly, from its family.

Many, many families are denied the support to improve their own situation and keep their families intact, with the authorities often seemingly eager to fast track the children into adoption.

Sometimes parents may agree this is in the best interests of the children, if there are ongoing and serious issues within the home and no appropriate wider family members or friends to provide kinship care.

Unfortunately many times (too many times) rules are bent, 'evidence' magically procured and children whisked away forever via forced adoptions. You may not believe this until it happens to you or someone you know, but rest assured it happens. Regardless of your social standing, income, race, religion or occupation.
But "rich people keep their kids".

In the criminal courts you are innocent until proven guilty, but in Family Courts you can be condemned based on paid for opinions and hearsay. You may have to prove your innocence, often with no legal advice or representation (huge cuts to Legal Aid in this area haven't helped). Those professionals who know you and your history are often barred from attending, replaced by professional, paid 'experts' who quote probabilities of future harm and 'typical' outcomes.

To reach the High Courts and present the often substantial evidence proving their innocence and rightful claims to be fit parents, these families need to pay court fees, which are usually well out of their reach.
