In 2014, Becky Fletcher, along with a co-founder, set up The Hummingbird, a cancer support centre in Bicester. Becky’s inspiration came from her work at Sobell Hospice and she soon realised that patients in her home town of Bicester needed this kind of support. However, a short time after the successful opening of the cancer support centre, it became apparent to Becky that people were asking for support for those with other illness also and not only cancer.
This was something that Becky, who also helps support local children’s charities and supports parents with children suffering with a life-limiting illness or condition, wanted to address.
This being the case, she moved on from the cancer support centre to focus her energy on setting up an organisation to support those suffering from any terminal or life-limiting illness or condition and their family and carers – and the idea for Greenfields was born.
