    Story

    Hello Everyone!

After an eventful few months, I would like to share my story and ask for your help and support in raising funds and awareness to help those suffering with Brain Tumours.

    My story:

So occasionally, over a two year period, I had some minor loss of feeling down my left leg. The doctors thought this was sciatica. Then in July this year, I suffered 2 very mild fits. A week later I had a CT scan where a large Meningioma brain tumour was found. The doctors think it could have been there for as long as 20years. Sometimes a Meningioma tumour can cause little or no symptoms at all. I was very lucky mine was found then before it grew further.

After a really scary four weeks, August 18th, I was in Addenbrooks Hospital in Cambridge, (on my 46th birthday!) to have the operation to have the tumour removed.
The surgery, which was expected to take around 4 hours took almost 10 hours and luckily, the brilliant surgeons managed to remove almost all of it leaving only a small amount that is attached to a main artery and would be too dangerous to remove. When I came around in recovery I felt surprisingly calm and was pain free! Though the overwhelming sense of relief and gratefulness is hard to put into words. My surgeons were calming, confident and amazing. The nurses were so reassuring, understanding and patient. I spent only four days in hospital and then began my long recovery at home.

After months at home recovering and resting, I slowly started exercising and building my strength back up. I've had some pain and sleepless nights but I'm slowly starting to feel like myself again.

And so I've decided to push myself and raise so money and awareness to help others!

    * On March 2nd, just over 6months since my surgery, I will be in Bulgaria and I will be SKIING down the highest slope in the DARK in fancy dress! *

Thank you for reading my story and please, please support me! All donations will be going to Addenbrooks Hospital.
