    Story

John Kiruthi, was born in Uganda but went to school in Kenya. He currently works for SKANSKA in Sweden. In 2007 he met his father for the first time in the Masaka area of Uganda. John had no memories of his father and the meeting was as happy as it was tragic. After being an only child he had gained a new family of 6 brothers and 3 sisters. It was a bit of a shock though to see how they lived their lives. He couldn´t imagine how people could be so poor and yet survive. Consecutively he began to help them to get a better life and has done so ever since.

In 2015 Dan, a colleague from Sweden joined John on a visit and together they are working to support the villagers and families and created Sweduga.

In the coming months John will be returning with his own daughters to Uganda to continue his work to improve the water supply, health care, and education of the local villagers. Joining him will be Ray Bolton from SKANSA and Ray's son Ben, who will be volunteering, for four months, as part of his GAP year in the school and hospital

Please see our website for further information www.sweduga.com.

Ben has been in Uganda since 19th December. He teaches English to the 200 pupils. Resources are non existent but the children and the teachers determination to give them an education is outstanding. The photo is their toilet which 200 pupils and staff share! They are in desperate need of better ones, and more. Ben has offered his entire savings to pay for them, but he needs more. Can you help? They think it will cost £3000. Ben wants to give back to the school, he is inspired by their dedication and love of what they do

This is John K with his girls, Ray and Ben Bolton. They are setting off at the end of December to spend a few weeks together helping develop more wells and take steps to improve life for the local people. Ben will be staying on to work in the school and alongside a local doctor. Exciting, rewarding and fulfilling work.
