Goa Rugby has been invited to participate in the 10th All India Nationals Tournament of the Touch Rugby Federation of India, 26-29th December 2016. The sport was introduced to Goa just 3 years ago and now has over 5000 players of all ages, boys, girls and youth in over 100 schools, communities and clubs throughout the state. Goa Rugby is a totally voluntary organisation and we need to raise the travelling costs to send 28 players, one men’s and one women’s side, to Raipur in Chhattisgarh for the Tournament.
Goa has an excellent chance to secure a Trophy in this Tournament, and also the Indian National Coaches will be selecting Youth players to join Team India in preparation for the Youth Touch World Cup in 2018. This is a perfect chance to put Team Goa players firmly on the Touch Rugby World Map!
Players will be travelling by train from Goa to Raipur. Such is their dedication they depart at 6.30am on Christmas morning, 25th December, and will arrive back in Goa at 9.30pm on New year’s Eve, 31st December. Funds are also required for accommodation, meals and of course Team Goa jerseys.
This is the next big step for Goa Rugby, and to bring a Nationals trophy back to Goa on 31st December will fulfil many dreams, and fuel the future ambitions of our young players.
