Teddy joined our family in the summer of 2014 as a rescue. My children decided on her name because she looked like a fluffy teddy bear! She immediately stole our hearts and became one of the family. We all adore her, but the kids especially....

In 2016 the opportunity arose for us to emigrate to Australia which has been a lifelong dream of mine. Of course, we always assumed Teddy would be coming with us....until it came to booking the flights and realising that we just didn't have the money to pay for her transportation and quarantine fees. The cheapest quote is just over £4000. We'd already paid hundreds on her passport, rabies certificate and import permit...

With a very heavy heart we resigned ourselves to the thought of rehoming Teddy so I asked on Facebook if any of my friends could offer her a safe and loving family home, which is when people started suggesting crowdfunding as a way of raising the required funds to get Teddy to Australia and keep her with her family!

Please understand that I'm not usually the type of person to ask for help and I feel extremely cheeky in doing so, but this idea has given us a glimmer of hope at avoiding the devastation of leaving our Teddy Bear behind.
