Story
When Yemen was engulfed by war two years ago schools across the country were closed and extracurricular activities were suspended. Many young boys joined the fighting on the ground and lost hope in their future.
At Sanaa Tennis Club, however, matches continued. Despite daily air strikes, boys and girls travelled to the club to play and train for tournaments with their coaches.
In January 2017, Hassan and Suhail, Yemen's junior champions, qualified for the Asia Junior Tennis Championships taking place in Qatar.
But war and an air and naval blockade imposed on the country have left Hassan, Suhail and their coach, Osama, struggling to find a way to the tournament.
In ten days they hope to embark on a 12-hour journey. Firstly crossing warzones and check-points from the capital Sanaa to Seyoun, then flying to Jordan to collect visas, and on to Qatar to compete in the Asian Championships.
They need $2500 to cover their transport, visas and tournament expenses.
Let's give Hassan and Suhail a chance to escape war for two weeks and pursue their dreams. Their dedication to sport during conflict offers hope to others enduring the conflict.
