Story
As a lot of you who are reading this will know Shaun Whiter was involved in a horrific incident which has caused life changing injuries. For those reading this that may not know what happened. Shaun was helping his friend change a flat tyre on the side of the road, he took all the precautions wearing a high vis, head touch and having his hazards on. Unfortunately this didn't prevent a car hitting Shaun who was looking in his friends boot and also squashing his friends leg between both of there cars. The driver didn't choose to stop and call for help but instead drove off and left Shaun and his friend in fatal condition. Shaun had to have several operations, unfortunately he has lost both his legs from the knees but his positive and fighting personality has really touched and inspired a lot of people. As soon as he came round he asked if he was still getting married next July and has set himself a goal to walk down the aisle (pretty amazing right?) Also he has mentioned competing in the Paralympics! Shaun was a keen footballer and a general sportsman, also raised money for charity Cycling from London to Paris in 24 hours!
A group of us have decided to raise money for Shaun to help with the £120,000 he needs for equipment and aftercare once Shaun leaves hospital. We will be doing the National Three Peak Challenge it consists of doing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon all in 24hours including the drive.
We will be starting at Ben Nevis which is 1,345m, driving down to Scafell Pike 978m, finally moving on to Snowden 1,085m. its roughly 11hours of driving and 13hours of trekking.
