    Story

Thank you for taking the time to check out my CrowdFunding page.

I'll be trekking 25km through the Peak District in the UK in September, not only an amazing challenge for myself physically and mentally but also a great way to raise awareness.

I grew up in South African where beaches were pretty much on your doorstep and spent as much time on them as possible. I was taught to love and respect the oceans and all the life that comes with it.
I am now 34 years old, living in the UK and lets face it, it's not much of a beach life but the importance of our environment and ocean life has grown stronger for me.

We are at a very crucial turning point and what we decide to do now will determine the future of our planet. We could see more plastic in our oceans than sea life by the year 2050, that's only 33 years away. It is estimated that 100 to 200 million sharks annually are killed for their fins alone. I'm sure you can see where I'm going with this.

Last year we went to Mozambique to get married and yes, it was on the beach. We met a lovely couple who told us about an organisation there that are trying to protect and create awareness about the oceans and marine life, Love The Oceans. Their end goal in is to establish a Marine Protected Area in the Inhambane Province. This was incredibly inspiring to me after hearing about the damage to local coral reefs and also the shark and manta ray population. Hunting these beautiful creatures purely for their fins and gills which are mostly exported overseas.

I feel have a responsibly to our planet. I have a nephew who will be one in June and I hope that when he is my age he will be able to see mother nature, animals and the oceans as I have and thriving.

Please help me in this amazing challenge to raise funds for Love The Oceans.
    Thank you
