    Story

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected death of my sweet Mum who passed away peacefully on Sunday 15th January with Dad, Adam and I by her side.

We know this will be a shock to many who knew Mum and were unaware of her cancer. It was her choice, in her words, “not to worry anyone”.

Mum was sadly admitted to hospital on the 19th December to be told the cancer she had battled to clear in 2016, had returned and its status was non-curable. Mum’s bravery, strength and courage in hospital over the last four weeks were unbelievable and something that I will carry with me as inspiration for the rest of my life.

Mum’s only sorrow was that she did not have the strength for visitors. A huge thank-you to all of my Mum’s family and friends who have sent their love and support over the past few weeks. It brought so much joy and spirit to Mum to hear everyone’s messages.

My Dad, brother and I would also like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Lowan ward at Treliske Hospital for the amazing care they provided for my mother and a personal thank-you to the team at the Macmillan Cove Centre for the daily support they provided for Adam, Dad and myself.

We have set up this page as it was Mum’s firm wish that rather than flowers, she would prefer we make donations to the Marazion Cancer Shop, a charity organisation very close to Mum’s heart, in order to make a difference in the lives of others tackling this awful disease. Mum worked as a volunteer at this charity shop for many years, only stopping to concentrate on her treatment and she felt passionately about both the cause and the people who dedicate their time to support it. (More info below)

It would be our pleasure if anyone who would like to, would join us at her funeral to celebrate the life of the wonderful lady that was Wendy Koller.

    Much Love,
    Nicola, Adam and Graham. Xxx

      Update from the Page owner

Dear All, A huge (belated) thank you to everyone who donated, both via the Just Giving page and in person at Mum’s funeral. I know that Mum would have been very pleased with all of the money raised, and my Dad and I were proud to pass it on to the Charity Shop for such a good cause. Inspired by Mum and to continue her positive spirit, I have decided to keep fundraising for different cancer charities throughout the year and would be very grateful for any continued support to help improve treatment for future generations. N & Family x

From Denise at MCS – ‘Marazion Cancer Shop has been an independent charity shop, raising money for cancer research, for six years. In that time our takings have risen from zero to £40,000 in 2016. We now have over 50 volunteers and each one has a vote on the distribution of our funds. Last year, over 85% went towards funding the research of Dr Duncan Wheatley at Treliske Hospital, Truro, Cornwall. In 2016 over 700 people in Cornwall were on trials - a record for The Royal Cornwall Hospital - Treliske’
