Is there anything worse in life than your child being ill? A cold? Chicken pocks? The occasional trip to out of hours doctors at the hospital. Ok. So you get my point Imagine weekly hospital visits, watching your 3 year old turn into a 7 year old and those visits are still, 4 years on, a regular occurance. They have infact become more frequent and draining than ever. So this brings me to a story of a kind hearted, upbeat and funny little boy named William, some of you may already follow his journey on Williams Wishing Well. This little boy gives soul to any room and has endured treatment even adults could barely cope with. A smile always rests upon his face. He was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor aged 3 and went through an intense course of chemotherapy in hope that the tumor would shrink in size. Throughout his first course of poison he lost the ability to grip with one hand and this fist remains clenched to this day, his mum has tried physio, botox and water therapy to try and help the hand to re-open but its now part of William. He even rocks a slight limp which he styles so well and never allows this to get in his way of winning on his bike or scooter! These things give William so much more character and you wont hear him moan about either. Chemotherapy did shrink his tumor initally and allowed him to be a child again for such a short time, before it again came to light that the tumor had grown. Another course of chemotherapy later, all over christmas when children should only concenrate on being children and the tumor is still growing! His mum got the dreaded news they need to travel to America for Proton treatment, this is five days a week and will be for a 3 month period. We NEED to put our hands in our pockets and ensure that money is not a worry while the family are away and have no income. I am hoping to raise enough to fund their youngest childs flights to America and pay their rent while they are away aswell as living costs out there.
