Story
Friends and family of Kimberley Coulman (Lucha) have decided to organise a charity walk in memory of Kimberley and to raise funds for the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Unit at St James Hospital Leeds. Kimberley passed away on February 23rd 2017 as a result of an aggressive period of illness associated with Cystic Fibrosis. CF is a lifelong illness and affects over 10,000 people in Great Britain alone. Before she passed away Kimberley was cared for tirelessly and with such amazing compassion by the staff at St James’.
Patients with CF spend a significant amount of time being treated on the unit and that is why we hope to raise money to help towards providing anything those patients may need including funds towards the continued provision of a family room so family members can stay with their loved ones. The ward currently has 2 funds running the 1st for patient comfort providing anything to make a stay more comfortable from bedding and blankets to gifts for patients in hospital over Christmas. The 2nd is a fund to raise money to improve the Wi-Fi on the ward, this is a huge provision for those staying for long periods. We intend to spilt money raised across the 2 funds.
The walk will take place on Sunday the 1st of October 2017, this is the day after Kimberley’s birthday. The walk will begin at Little Waterfall Farm in Guisborough, and will finish at the Eskdale pub in Castleton. We hope to undertake the walk in the spirit with which Kimberley lived, and will therefore be stopping at Mucky Tom’s pub in Commondale along the way for a swift drink. We will also have a Wine/Beer station positioned along the route. The walk will begin at 10:00am and should finish at approx. 4:00pm. T-shirts will be on sale for the walk should anyone want to purchase one and again all proceeds will go to the unit.
