This August I will be walking 75km in 24hrs across the peaks of the Derbyshire Dales to raise funds for Chesterfields children's ward. My wife Natalie will be joining me along part of the route also.

Both my boys William (19 months old) and Thomas (1month old) have had to be admitted to Chesterfield Royal's children's ward. William for jaundice and a raised heart rate and Thomas very recently for meningitis.

The care they both received was exemplary. The staff are dedicated professionals who make that vital difference to you at your lowest point. Everyone we encountered regardless of their role helped us on some level with their kindness and friendliness.

To my surprise however much of the equipment I regarded as essential actually is not funded by the NHS. Items for the children's play area, breast pumps for mothers of tiny babies, sterilisers and many other items are purchased from donations. I want to give something back to this fantastic place to help them continue giving fantastic care. Money donated will help items be upgraded or purchased for the ward and make the time children spend there a little bit easier.
