In 2014, a civil war was started in Yemen between the government and various extremist, rebel and outside groups each with their own claim to who governs the country. Since then outside powers have escalated the fighting which has devastated Yemen, millions have lost their homes and nearly 19 million are in desperate need of humanitarian aid. Famine has plagued the country which is felt strongest by the most vulnerable, orphans. At this point the fighting is perpetual and with little purpose, most infrastructure and logistics within the country have been disabled. Basic supplies like food, clean water, medicine and even electricity can be hard to come by. The war has displaced countless families, separated and in a lot of cases left children with no carers. The orphanages in Yemen are at breaking point and are in desperate need of all the support they can get. That’s where we come in. Thousands of atrocities are going unheard and unreported every day, in a conflict receiving little to no media coverage. Victims most to this are the countless civilians caught up in the fighting. Without our help, there will be little to no chance of changing the UN published figures of a child under the age of 5, dying every 10 minutes from preventable causes.
