Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
Hi my name is Abigail I am 31and a single mum of two children 4 and 6. I am also a fulltime first year undergraduate student studying Psychology. My passion is helping improve mental health. I am looking for your help, support and donations to enable me to go on this amazing journey to Indian to gain more knowledge I can then pass on to others. The funds cover the placement and flights.
I myself suffer with mental health issues and I pride myself in being able to now manage these issues and continue to make the most out of life. I feel no one should suffer in silence and its all in the education as a way forward for our generation and generations to come. It took me a lot of searching to find not only what I was dealing with but what worked for me in terms of helping me live the best life possible.
My hopes and dreams are to develop a programme for school children and parents to educate about mental health and advice when, how and where to get further support should they ever need it. I only wish this was available for me so I could of got a handle on things years ago. This placement will enable me to learn more about mental health from a different perspective and to then bring that knowledge back home and help make a difference in schools across the North East of England.
The trip is with a reputable company called SLV.Global and this is what they say about the placement:
'Run in partnership with National Institute of Mental Health and Neuroscience NIMHANS and the School of Ancient Wisdom, our program is facilitated by renowned clinical psychologists and psychiatrists, many of whom double as yogis, and are equally passionate about Ancient Eastern modalities, like mindfulness, Ayurveda and yoga. Through five actively informative and immersive days you'll be invited to explore, more closely, how ancient Eastern techniques can complement modern methods to treat mental health concerns, in both clinical and community settings.'
I will be documenting my journey through my Instagram page- positivemummyof2 so please feel free to follow me.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any support you are able to offer.
