On the 9 July I will be running in the Leeds Jane Tomlinson's 10 km run to raise money for Megan's new wheelchair.

As with many people born with cerebral palsy, Megan has had several major operations throughout her 19 years. Ordinarily Megan walks with the aid of a frame and occasionally uses a wheelchair when out and about (this was us on a girlie break in Scarborough last summer). Having just successfully completed her first year of a Journalism degree at Huddersfield University, we were all disappointed to learn that her summer holidays would be spent recuperating from surgery. The operation will involve fusing bones in both her feet. Megan's current wheelchair model is ten years old and ready for the skip. Despite a recent NHS wheelchair assessment, the waiting list for a new model could be as long as 12 months, too late to give her the freedom and ease of mobility when she really needs it: now! Megan's pre-op assessment has been set for 18 May so we anticipate the surgery anytime soon. Your urgent donations will help Megs, literally, get back on her feet by the next academic term.
