Story
Help Bring Five Girls Back to School
The five orphans and vulnerable girls benefiting from the project are living in Kibera, the largest urban slum in Africa. The girls finished Kibera Hamlet 's primary school and feeding programme, financed by activities from the Kibera community such as the sale of crafts by local women. They successfully passed the national Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) in 2016, but were unable to pursue their secondary school studies the following academic year as they lacked the funds. Therefore, we are trying to bring them back to school in January 2018 and aim to raise 213,000 KSH before the 5th of January 2018. This sum will fully fund their first year and will take into account all expenditure including boarding fees, tuition fees, desks and uniforms (see below for a full breakdown).
The scholarships will enable the girls to join the Migori Education Centre, a private non-profit mixed boarding school. The Migori Education Centre has already admitted Pauline Kemunto, Lavenda Adhiambo, Dolphin Anyone, Sharon Yvone and Judith Moraa but is waiting for the scholarship funds to come through. By helping us reach this goal, the girls will have a crucial opportunity to acquire important knowledge and skills that will grant them employment prospects and future success, subsequently raising their overall living standards and helping them get out of the vicious cycle of poverty.
The girls have committed to keeping in contact with you by sending you thank you letters, termly report cards, as well as photos and videos. Please provide me with your email if you wish to receive updates from the girls.
Please donate whatever you can, every little bit helps!
