Story

I am Adam, and on 7th of July 2018 myself, my brother Matt and a group of other dads will be attempting the National 3 Peaks Challenge. Climbing the tallest peaks in Scotland (Ben Nevis), England (Scafel Pike) and Wales (Snowdon), all within 24 hours. Firstly I am doing this as I want to use the challenge to raise some money for the Neonatal unit where my son Bobby was born. Secondly, as a personal challenge.

MY STORY:

7 years ago, my partner Chelsea was rushed to a newly built hospital which specialised in caring for babies born too soon.

With no clue what was wrong, or what was going to happen, me and Chelsea were sobbing together.

The very next day, on 11th June 2011 our son Bobby was born, weighing 2lbs 5oz. He was born at 31 weeks, thats 9 weeks early, by emergency c-section.

Following his early arrival into the world, me and my partner were met with a gruelling 47 days in the Neonatal Unit, not knowing if our son would survive, or live to grow old. He began his life on oxygen in Intensive care, covered in tubes and wires, gradually making progress in the Special Care Baby Unit. Day by day, tubes were removed and wires detatched. We could only hold our new born baby for 5 minutes each day.

But with the help of the amazing staff and incredible facility, he made phenomenal progress. Now all these years later, Bobby is now a perfect 7 year old who lives his life to fullest.

I am adament that with out the expert care he recieved while in the Neonatal unit at Tunbridge Wells, he would not be here today.

Which is why I am fundraising, 1. To give something back to the Unit, and 2. To help the many other babies that come through there.

The money we raise will go towards vital machines and supplies that normal budgets dont allow for, simply because they‘re so expensive.

Hopefully we can help make another little life grow older.

I am funding the 3 peaks challenge myself, so all money raised will go straight to the Neonatal Unit at Tunbridge Wells Hospital.
