Me and Paul are going to be doing a series of 10k and 1/2 marathon races to help raise money for Erik and his family to help them overcome the Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) that Erik unfortunately came down with 3 years ago.

A small bit about GBS and what it is, from Erik himself;

How does GBS start, and perhaps the best questions are: when does it stop? Is it curable? GBS is a rare disorder in which your body's immune system attacks your nerves. The result of such an attack, which can last for several weeks, could be that you lose the grip in your hands, or you’ll drag your feet. Some people don’t even notice that they’re suffering from it. Weakness and tingling in your extremities are usually the first symptoms. These feelings can quickly spread, eventually paralyzing your whole body. In its most severe form GBS is a medical emergency. Most people with the condition must be hospitalized to receive treatment. I am told the mild form of GBS heals relatively well as most people with good health can continue their lives as they did before the illness struck. Unfortunately, I had the worse luck of all. According to the specialists who is specialized in diagnosing GBS I have a bad case of Miller-Fischer syndrome, the worst kind of this disease.

Erik is currently bound to an electric wheel chair which he controls via a head yoke as he is paralysed from the neck down. The chair grants him some mobility but unfortunately he still can't get out and about far and wide or easily, so he'd love to have a car which is capable of taking his wheelchair so him, his wife and family can go out together and do the normal things we all do from day to day, as he says "I mean, what is more wonderful than to take your wife shopping? Not so long ago, this was an unthinkable thought for me (and I guess for many men with me haha)."
