On July 23rd, 2016, my good friend Steve White, saw his life change forever; despite being fit and healthy and having no warning symptoms, on that day he suffered 3 seizures and a collapsed lung before being rushed to hospital; he learned later that he had developed a cancerous brain tumour around the size of a golf ball, subsequently diagnosed as a Glioblastoma (GBM), which is often referred to as “The Terminator” due to its aggressive nature and resistance to current NHS medical treatment. The median survival rate is between six to 18 months from initial diagnosis.

To improve Steve's prognosis he and his family have researched various treatment options and there are new procedures which have returned encouraging results amongst other patients with his condition. The problem is that this treatment is not funded on the NHS.....and costs around £100k.

Although Steve and his family are putting all their own finances into his treatment, they need support to raise this money and that's where this challenge comes in.

On 22nd and 23rd of June, I will be joining Steve and a team of his friends courageously cycling from Lands End to Jon O'Groats. So, my wife is remembering how to be a cyclists widow once again, while I prepare for the Carnforth to Moffat and Moffat to Dumbarton legs.
