Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
I am Aditya Sreevalsan. I am 16 and currently doing my Sixth Form at Bedford Modern School.
I am going on an expedition to Mozambique in July 2017 as part of True Adventure Tours. In addition to safari and walking expedition, the focus of the tour will be a community development project in rural Mozambique. Expedition members will be living and interacting closely with the local community in a coastal fishing village.
The community depend on fishing for their livelihood and face increasing challenges and hardship due to the degradation of their coastline due to poor waste and rubbish management. Both environmental and human factors contribute. The project is likely to involve creation of sustainable waste and rubbish disposal facilities and ongoing education of the local populations. Expedition members will plan and execute the entire project in close consultation with the community.
True Adventure Tours have a proven track record of similar activities in many disadvantaged areas in Africa.
My parents Dr Sabita Sreevalsan and Mr S Kappadath work at Northampton General Hospital and are sponsoring the expedition- but I am hoping to raise money to self-fund the expedition as much as possible.
Thank you for your time and generosity.
