    Story

I have signed up to complete the Vale of Glamorgan Coastal Ultra on Saturday 1st April to help raise money for a very good friend of mine's sister, Carolyn (Car) Gammon.

To give a little context... Carolyn is 43 and lives in Cwmavon, Port Talbot with her partner Gos, and two children Rudy (3) and Mira (6 months). She was diagnosed with breast Cancer during pregnancy and the Cancer is now terminal despite undergoing Chemotherapy and a mastectomy. Carolyn will, at some point, require life extending drugs that are not routinely available on the NHS in Wales. I am raising money to contribute towards the £150,000 Carolyn needs in order to privately fund treatment that will give her precious extra years with her family. These drugs could be the difference between Carolyn's children being able to remember her, or not.

The Ultra is 51.5 kilometres (32 miles) and the team I will be joining comprises a mixture of half-marathon, marathon and ultra runners. I am currently the weakest link so have a lot of work ahead of me. I am looking forward to the challenge (I think) and hope to help raise plenty of money. The fundraising efforts of family, friends and the community to date is absolutely mind blowing. Check out 'Curly Car's Cancer Fund' for more information: https://www.gofundme.com/curlycarsfund.
