    Story

Vertical banded gastroplasty (VBG) reversal ( Revision)

Ro's my 1/2 sister and this is my way to help her as I to am severely disabled.

    Adrian and Ro’s story

My Wife Ro needs this medical procedure now to save her life, enable her to eat normally and not go into organ failure.....

Vertical banded gastroplasty (VBG) - This is the medical procedure I had to have done not because I was obese, but because of my hip dysplasia which was not picked up until I was 25 years old. I was put in an adult Spicer cast for six months and also endured over 40 operations on my hips and legs. Due to the severe pain I suffered and due to my weight gain, which increased to 22 stone, my orthopaedic consultant felt he needed to help me. So it was arranged for me to see a bariatric consultant, who made an appointment for the VBG procedure.

But since having this operation Ro's not eaten solid food for 10 yrs and for the last 3 yrs she's had a feeding peg in her stomach as swallowing even liquid was very painful and the fear of choking very traumatic for her. Ro suffers from dysphagia, difficulties with swallowing. Sadly due to Ro's peg becoming extremely infected it had to be removed, so now she desperately needs to have her Vertical banded gastroplasty (VBG) reversed. So that Ro can begin to eat properly without all this fear of choking, plus the pain and discomfort from acid reflux’ that constantly comes into her throat and mouth. This is a major operation, which we were told cannot be funded on the NHS’ even though her life is very much in danger without surgery. we've been told that Ro could die due to organ failure, She also suffers from malnutrition. Due also to the type of operation this is, it may now no longer be possible to have this done in the UK. Which sadly calls for us to ask for donations, this is to cover the cost of the operation, medication and any other hospital fees.
Thank you so much, please help if you can.
