Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
At 9:35pm on the 18 September 2017, the Caribbean Island of Dominica was hit hard by Hurricane Maria with winds of more than 160 mph. More than 30 people died with over 65,000 people being directly affected. 90% of all homes were damaged or destroyed, water supplies disrupted causing cash crops to be destroyed.
It is estimated that over $1Bn USD worth of damage was sustained through this disaster and they are still in need of support to bring back some sort of normality.
I have been planing and organizing events in the UK over the past 7 years and have teamed up with a few other prominent organisers to raise awareness and funds through our platform.
On the 2nd June 2018, we launched AGUA LONDON with the catch line "partying with a purpose". AGUA was a wet fete and foam themed party held in Harrow, and boasted just over 600 attendees. There were live performances from 4 of the Caribbean leading artiste; Patrice Roberts, Asa Bantan, Yankee Boy and Swappi; along with some local UK acts.
We raised £1350 on the day through donations and proceeds from ticket sales.
We don't want to stop there. We are continuing to raise funds until after the Nottinghill Carnival 2019 and aim to raise at lead £5000.
So where you can, please donate any amount that you can afford as all will make a massive impact in the rebuilding process.
