    2022 804 CHALLENGE – SHREK TREK 2 – SUNDAY 18 SEPTEMBER 2022

Welcome to the 2022 804 CHALLENGE – Shrek Trek 2!!

In 2019 we lost one of our finest friends and colleagues to the horrendous disease that is Bowel Cancer.

In 2020 a very large number of Stevies family, friends and colleagues came together, even allowing for COVID restrictions, and on Sunday 22 September we collectively raised over £15000 to support Stevies pride and joy daughter, Rebecca.

The time is now right to come together again and ensure we keep the big mans legacy alive.

In June 2010 Stevie Organised The Shrek Trek on the Isle of Cumbrae – a 24hr continuous cycle around the island. Stevie raised a considerable sum for charity.

SO, it all makes sense that we base this years fundraiser on Cumbrae – which is about 16.08km around the island (twice the 8.04km) on FLAT main roads.

The challenge for this year is that on Sunday 18 September:

Complete a sponsored lap of Cumbrae by whatever means you wish (run, cycle, crawl, hop, whatever... there is even a rumour that one remarkable young lady is thinking of canoeing around the island)

Or, if you cant make it to Cumbrae you complete the distance, or at least 8.04km wherever you can.

Pamela and Rebecca have identified a charity, very close to their hearts, to be the benefactor this year: Bowel Cancer UK. They would love to see as many families as possinle taking part.

Even if you cant take part we would be delighted if you could make a donation.

To take part, we would ask you to make a £20 donation to the Just Giving Page (link below) for each person taking part. This will include the customary t-shirt, which is currently being designed. Please then email Colin Convery to confirm your participation and t-shirt size on colinconvery@btinternet.com.

There are a number of retailers on the island who hire out bikes of all shapes and sizes. So if you left your bike in the French Alps on The Tour de France, fear not! Some of the bikes are contraptions capable of carrying entire families. It is probably best to book the bikes in advance.

We are currently in discussions with local transport providers to try and secure reduced rate travel on the boats/buses and will keep you all fully updated as this progresses.

We also hope to have a base on the island on the day where we can come together/recover!

PLEASE SHARE AND ENCOURAGE AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE TO TAKE PART. The attached poster can be printed off and put on notice boards etc!!

    THNKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT.
