Story
The Island Games are held every 2 years and are like mini Olympics for the islands around the world. Going to compete for my Island (the Isle of Wight) at these games has been a goal of mine for some time, as I have previously been thwarted by exams, preventing me from doing something I love. Race. This year the Island Games will be hosted by Gotland, a small Swedish island, and the trip there is going to be expensive , especially for a first year university student. I am competing in the Standard distance Triathlon even, which comprises of a 1500m sea swim, 40km cycle, and a 10km run. I have only been doing the sport for just over a year and a half after previously running and swimming competitively, so qualifying in such a new sport for me is a dream. I will also be sacrificing my leg hair via leg wax to raise funds for this event. Any donations to the Island Games would be great as the funds wouldn't just go to me and my legs but to the whole Island Games Triathlon team. We would greatly appreciate any donations.
Many thanks,
Aidan and he Isle of Wight Triathlon team
