Recently I went back home to my homeland of Bangladesh to visit my Grandfather. Having spent much time with my Grandfather when I was younger - I was overjoyed to see him once again. Now that I'm all grown up I was truly able to enjoy his company and that too of the rest of the family in the village.

During my stay, my Grandfather took me to this rundown old building within the small rural village. This building was being used as an orphanage, for 30 children who no longer have any parents or family to look after them. The village has done a lot for these children so far and I know they'll continue to do so Insha Allah (God Willing). However, the moment I met these children and learned of their stories, I had a desire to help and do something for them.

At this current moment, these children are being taught by one of the local Imams who has taught them to read & write and encouraged them in memorising the Qur'an. But I know this is not enough. I want to help these children with more books and resources like pens and pencils. Give them a real chance to make a life for themselves.

So I ask you all, if you can give me a helping hand by raising funds for these children and spreading the word about this cause. With the funds raised, I will ensure the funds are sent to the orphanage directly.

At this stage, I am looking to raise £1,000 to help finance some much needed maintenance in the building and ensure these children have a safe environment, food, clothes and clean sanitation.

After I get through this initial stage, I want to be able to start making a real difference in their lives by providing them educational books and resources.
