Story

I'm a comic book creator, painter and wheelchair user. I rely on getting to comic conventions to promote my books, find work by meeting editors and publishers, and to increase awareness of diversity and inclusion. I now need to have a helper (or helpers) to travel to these events, and the cost of accessible accomodation has nearly doubled in the last couple of years. There are around 5 comic cons in the UK, that are a mainstay for my career, Thought Bubble, London Super Comic Con, ICE, NICE, and London Film and Comic Con. None are local, and all involve challenges for a wheelchair user as far as travelling is concerned. I am only managing to attend one of these this year, (Thought Bubble) so I'm hoping to raise enough funds to attend all of these events over the next year. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Airport pt 2 3 hours later I got a call saying I could go and pick my chair up. I asked if they'd pay for a taxi to bring the chair to the hotel, they said no I'd have to go to the lost property area & sign for it. Again I explained that I'd need the chair to get to the lost property area, they reluctantly agreed to send it by taxi. When it arrived I had to sign a form, & the driver presented me with a bill from the airport, for both taxi journeys, plus a service charge. I refused to pay. The driver just smiled & said 'I wouldn't pay either'

Airport pt1 Arriving at an airport on my way to a comic convention, I discovered that my wheelchair had been put on the wrong flight. I was in Scotland (I think), my wheelchair was in Spain. The airport manager offered to lend me a wheelchair until mine was returned, but the only one they had, had four small wheels, They couldn't see the problem, despite me explaining that I was travelling alone. Finally they got me a taxi to my hotel and arranged for the hotel to help me at the other end, and said I'd have my chair back within 2 hours.
