Weʼre raising £5,000 to help Simona battle cancer

What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

My name is Sorana and I've known Simo for 14 years, since I was working for a local advertising agency in Cluj-Napoca, where Ioana Caprar was our manager and devoted friend.

I was working in sales and Simo was working in the creative department and we instantly became friends. Two years later, life led Simo to Bucharest where she worked for bigger and fancier agencies and where she met people who became friends with for life, she was lucky to work for top agencies with extraordinary colleagues.

Life look me to Bucharest too and Simo and I became even closer. We both lived around Iore Park and we had a group of wonderful friends, we were working together and going out together... We became super close, so when she decided to move to Cluj I found it easy to keep in touch.

For about two years we kept in touch over the phone, however we knew everything about what was happening in our lives, every moment of happiness, every moment of sadness, every cold, every promotion, or every jar of jam set for the winter.

I was the bridesmaid and her right hand at organising the wedding. While I was in Transylvania for Simona's wedding, my grandfather was diagnosed with cancer and I wanted to be with my grandparents so I moved back to Cluj. I once again had the opportunity to be with my best friend in the same city.

She has been with me for two years, meanwhile my grandparents passed away, but I have always been morally supported by Simo.

In 2014 her little wonderful girl Dora came to the world. Simo is an amazing mother, wife and a lovely friend! I love her with all my soul. A model of generosity and warmth that I have not met before.

In 2015 when I decided to go to England, Dora was about two or three months old and Simo discovered a small bump on her neck so I asked her to do some tests. After one month the results came in and were not positive. She was diagnosed with Grade III rhino pharyngeal tumour - inoperable at this stage!

However, Simo along with her family and close friends, weighted up the options, and at that time decided to go on alternative therapies. She was having a healthy lifestyle anyway, but she included even more training; she started to run through valleys and hills, through forests, through the Great Park and the Somes River. We decided to do a marathon together, she in Romania and me in England. I was super proud of her, I was healthy and she, not really .... however had a fantastic result!!!

Health was her priority, but Dora is and has always been the light of her eyes. First time mother and then "the person who needs to heal", Simo juggled with her roles like a Superhero.

She worked a lot on her spiritual side and on her mental health, she had friends and family who supported her and love her very much. But she thinks that this 'disease' is a warning and she has to make some changes for the better and correct the course.

She went to the doctors, asked for opinions, made inquiries, made many alternative and complementary treatments, and sometimes her condition seemed to improve, sometimes to evolve negatively ... She was handling the situation very well! she accepted the advice of her friends, but she did as she thought was better. And we all respected that. No one can tell you what to do when you do not bear the consequences!

In March 2017 we convinced her to go to a hospital in Italy, we met in Venice, she came with Dora. Things precipitated while there and she was not prepared for what the doctors proposed. She returned to Romania and went to her parents in Oradea where she had their support and love. Along with Raoul and her close friends, she continued the alternative therapies and, in the summer, she was close to go through a surgery in Targu Mures. But in September, the doctor decided not to go forward with it after performing the biopsy. Simo searched for other alternatives and in October decided to start a treatment based on cannabis oil.

In January 2018 I visited her in Oradea. I found a tired Simo, much weaker after the intervention, and in just three months the tumor became 3 times bigger in volume (like a pomelo), but she is optimistic, still a fighter and a devoted mother. We started to plan the idea of fundraising.

Simo disagreed with raising funds so far. She felt she did not want to ask for help from people who already have their problems.

And is true we all have problems, but ... life is more beautiful when people are solidary, when we show we care and love each other.

Towards the end of January, seeing that Simona's condition does not improve, Raoul put the wheels in motion and gave us all the green light to mobilise for Simo.

We started the fundrasing campaign and managed to support Simona's first 7 treatments, in a total value of Eur 25.000. Her doctors are highly experienced and work at this clinic in Germany:

All though her tumor is now smaller by 10 mm than it was before her first round of treatment, Simona must continue the therapy in order to have access to the next stage which is surgery,

We believe that together we can help her continue fighting for her life!
