On 10th September, I'm due to start a part time college course in carpentry and joinery; after a lifetime of wrong turns and unfortunate luck, and after much hard work, I have finally managed to manoeuvre myself into a position whereby I am stable enough to be able to go back to college and learn a trade. My trade of choice is carpentry, in the hopes that I can become a Joiner and perhaps even start my own business. The whole process will take about 3-4 years, by which time I will be able to start work with qualifications instead of having to rely on performing as a street musician to earn a living.
After application stages and an interview, I asked my potential tutor how much the deposit would be. Unfortunately, he gave me wrong information and said it'd only be "a few hundred quid." As I found out when a letter arrived about enrolment, in fact I need 50% of the course fee, plus safety boots and work trousers. When the letter arrived, this gave me 2 weeks to find £1,000 which has placed me in an impossible situation.
Due to my age (33) I can't get any support from the government until I start my Level 2 in 3 years time. My intention for both Level 1 and 2 is to pay in installments, which I can carry on with no problems at all, as well as the course fee deposit for Level 2 now that I know how much is needed and have enough time to save up for it, it's just impossible for me to raise that amount of cash in 2 weeks and I'm desperately eager to get back into education as soon as possible. If I don't have enough to pay the deposit for the course fees by the 6th, unfortunately I'll lose my place.
Absolutely any amount no matter how small will be greatly appreciated and a huge help. Thank you for taking the time to visit my page.
The breakdown of my target is as follows:
50% of course fees as deposit - £807.50
Dewalt safety boots - £72.15
Dewalt work trousers - £40.99
Total percentage charged for this page by Just Giving - 7.7%
Total = £991.50
