This summer, July 2017, I will be going on an amazing adventure! I am one member in the Huckleberry Foundation team going to volunteer in a rural township outside of Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Our team will be putting on classes at a primary school during their winter school holidays and we will be cooking for around 200 – 300 children each day! Due the government being strict on what we can teach the children in the academic area, will be attempting to teach them sports, drama, music and team building skills. With the money we are raising for the foundation, we are hoping to build a netball court on their school grounds as netball is becoming a very popular activity for the children.

Our Trinity School CALABASH team are working together to raise funds for the development of the netball court by selling pizza slices every other week to the entire school. Some members of the team are venturing out on their own as well by walking, running, cycling and many other things so that we can try our very best to try and make a difference to these children’s lives.

I am hoping that this adventure will push me out of my comfort zone and open my eyes to how the world really is. I am very excited to experience the difference in culture, environment and working with a range of people from all backgrounds. My personal aim is to try and make a difference in the township and in myself.

My aim is to raise £250, however I would love to raise £500! If I raise more than £500 then the additional money will go towards my flight and accommodation. If you would like to help with the project then it would be very much appreciated if you could make a donation.
