Seamus is our beautiful fury friend who we adopted from Greece last year.
Seamus, his brother and three sisters were abandoned by the roadside when they were pups. When they were found unfortunately his brother had been run over by a car and killed. The puppies were taken to a shelter for abandoned dogs run by an old school friend of mine. Amanda set up a place for strays dogs of Greece just over 12 months ago.
Amanda has worked so hard creating a shelter for these abused dogs. Some dogs have been found on the roadside; some are chained up and left to die. Some have been found tied up in bin bags and left to die and others have been abused and are in danger of eating the poison that is often left for them by locals.
Amanda has put so much time and effort into building the shelter making sure the dogs are safe and protected. The dogs are taken to the vets to be wormed, given flea treatment and vaccinated. They are spayed and neutered and given good care.
She works tirelessly to re home the dogs. and has successfully found homes for some.
All this cost money.
She relies solely on donations that are made through pay pal on The compassion for Greek Paws Face book page which she set up 12 months ago. I want to help her.
I am cycling from Daventry to Paris in July in aid of Compassion for Greek paws.
The ride takes place over 3 days with the Daventry Cycling Club. The first day will be 120 miles, the second is 60 miles and the third day is 120 miles.
I am new to road cycling and have started my training alongside working full time. It has been a difficult start but is also rewarding.
I train 3 times in the week after work going to spinning classes and cycling on a turbo trainer. At weekends I go out on my bike and am currently managing 40 mile rides. I have fallen off a couple of times and have injured myself.
I’m trying to raise £500 towards the care and re homing of these lovely dogs. Please sponsor me if you can as every penny will help.
